🎧 About Simina Grigoriu:
Born in Romania and raised in Toronto, Simina Grigoriu has been a dominant force in the techno world for over a decade. What began as a DJing career soon evolved into full-scale music production, leading her to launch her own label, Kuukou Records—a haven for cutting-edge techno. Now based in Berlin, Simina draws inspiration from the city’s raw underground energy, blending classical training with a love for hip-hop influences and techno’s pioneers like Jeff Mills, Josh Wink, and Juan Atkins.
Her breakthrough moment came in 2010 with her debut EP, Mukluks & Ponytails, followed by her acclaimed album Exit City. She has since continued to push boundaries with releases on ELEVATE, Tronic Music, Set About, and Complexed Records, among others. Simina’s label Kuukou (meaning “airport” in Japanese) reflects her constant global touring and relentless pursuit of fresh, forward-thinking techno sounds.
